Each school day morning, three Hillgrove High School NJROTC cadets raise the U.S. flag on the school’s flagpole on the front common with only a handful of people walking to the front entrance. 


On this Thursday morning, September 11, 2014, a larger, focused audience started to assemble on the commons in front of Hillgrove High School.

An awards, promotions and Change of Command Ceremony was held for members of the NARS B-1 Squadron at the Fulton County-Charlie Brown Airport, Atlanta May 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm. The ceremony took place in the NARS B-1 meeting and drill site … one of the Fulton County-Charlie Brown Airport hangers.

The Atlanta Metropolitan Council of the Navy League of the United States held it’s 21st Annual Youth Awards Banquet May 8. It is the biggest council event of the year and is the culmination of a year of hard work, learning, competition, community service and fun for over 3,500 cadets, almost 100 Naval Science instructors, and numerous family and friends.

2013 Annual Toys for Tots December Dinner Meeting

Members and friends of the Atlanta Metro Council Navy League of the United States gathered at Scalini's Restaurant on Thursday, December 5, 2013 for the annual Toys for Tots Dinner and meeting. This annual event is a council favorite that honors our brave Marines and all our troops during the holiday season. It also gives council members the wonderful opportunity to donate a gift that will brighten some child’s Christmas and offer a message of hope to less fortunate children.

CO and COB
Well, not the submarine which is docked in Washington state, but the top commanding officers. When the submarine is home after a long deployment, CMDR Brian Elkowitz, Commanding Officer (CO) and CMDCM(SS) Eric Antoine, Captain of the Boat (COB) try to meet with President Jimmy Carter at the Carter Center in Atlanta, GA. Both parties excitedly look forward to these briefings, but most especially President Carter.


President Carter served in the U. S. Navy and is the only U.S. President to qualify in submarines.

RADM Martha Herb, Reserve Deputy Director, Naval Installations Command, visited Atlanta, Nov. 7-8, 2013. During her visit, she met with government, civic, corporate, and education leadership to build awareness of the Navy's global mission. But, as part of her outreach, RADM Herb always tries to make room in her schedule to visit a JROTC or Sea Cadet unit.
